RailStats.org uses limited, aggregate measurement to understand site use and automated crawler activity without building profiles of individual visitors.
Services and aggregate measurement
RailStats.org is hosted on OpenAI Sites and uses Cloudflare for network delivery, security, Web Analytics, and AI crawler reporting. These providers may process technical request information needed to deliver, protect, and measure the site under their own terms and privacy practices.
RailStats.org uses Cloudflare Web Analytics for aggregate visits, page views, referral hosts, page paths, device categories, broad country-level geography, and performance measurements.
The interface emits custom interaction events locally within your browser. The code can also forward them to an optional Plausible integration when configured; that integration is not part of the approved pilot. The site does not transmit its custom explorer interaction events to Cloudflare Web Analytics or use them to create personal profiles.
The delivered robots.txt allows search indexing and reference crawling. Cloudflare AI crawler controls were verified in monitor-only mode on September 29, 2026: none of the listed crawlers was blocked, and the delivered robots.txt contained no crawler-specific training exclusion. Robots instructions are advisory rather than access control, and RailStats.org does not claim that a crawler will honor them or disclose how retrieved content is used.
60-day crawler-measurement pilot
The limited pilot covers UTC observation dates from August 23 through October 21, 2026, with the final preceding-day export and retry on October 22. The private collector estimates crawler activity from a catalog of self-identifying user-agent tokens. This classification can be incomplete or spoofed; sampling and overlapping token matches can also affect counts. It does not verify an operator’s identity, distinguish every human from a bot, or establish how retrieved content is used.
A scheduled private collector retains daily aggregate crawler counts because the free AI Crawl Control dashboard has a short reporting window. The export excludes IP addresses, cookies, raw user-agent strings, query strings, full referrer URLs, and individual request records.
The collector replaces request paths with seven broad route categories: home, exploration, reference, data downloads, discovery files, assets, and other. It does not retain response-byte measurements. Earlier private exports were converted in place to the reduced schema on September 29, 2026.
Retention and limits
The retention policy removes crawler observations older than 120 UTC days at daily cleanup. A separate credential-free cleanup schedule continues after collection ends. Rolling reports are deleted when their earliest covered date expires, rather than retained for another 120 days after report creation. The cleanup service and schedule were verified on September 29, 2026.
Exports are private server files available to the site owner and authorized administrators or tools acting on the owner’s behalf; they are not public downloads. Provider dashboard retention follows provider settings and is separate from this export policy.
The approved pilot does not measure custom explorer events or UTM campaigns through Cloudflare Web Analytics. Any future external custom-event integration requires a separate provider and privacy decision.
RailStats.org does not intentionally collect names, email addresses, precise locations, or create individual visitor profiles for analytics. It does not sell visitor data or use it for targeted advertising.
